They analyzed the global marketplace for mobility and wireless and came up with a list of the top 10 most influential companies. Unsurprisingly, Nokia is #1 and Microsoft is #2. Here's what they have to say about Microsoft:<br /><br />"If anything, Microsoft's image in the mobility arena is one of failing to fulfil its potential, a perception reinforced by the defection of its handset development partner Sendo to Symbian in late 2002. True, Microsoft's Windows Powered Smartphone technology has made few in-roads into the smart handset market, but that is a market that has hardly been weaned. <br /><br />It is easy to forget that Microsoft's desktop Windows platform is also far and away the most dominant OS for notebooks and that its Pocket PC software has rapidly become the software of choice for enterprise-class PDA manufacturers, most notably Hewlett-Packard. <br /><br />With all of its technologies ultimately converging under its .Net distributed computing concept, Microsoft's influence on mobile computing will be profound."
