I spent the last few days at Microsoft with several other developers in the mobile device community for a Whidbey SDR (software design review). Whidbey, as mentioned before (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3904), is the code name for the next version of Visual Studio.NET. The event was under NDA, so I can't go into detail. I will, however, say that I am quite pleased with their plans - particularly around the .NET Compact Framework. They have a solid understanding of what developers are struggling the most with today and what they are likely to struggle with tomorrow. As a result, Whidbey is going to make .NET CF a viable technology for even more scenarios. It will be a while before Whidbey is released, but it is definitely something to look forward to.
