<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/links.php' target='_blank'>http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/links.php</a><br /><br /></div>If you're lucky enough to live in a place that offers unlimited wireless data packages, streaming audio is a reality that you can take advantage of. We've added a new links category where you can add links to streaming audio - we've only got one there so far, but if you have a favourite streaming station, please add it in! :D The bit rate should be around the 20 Kbps to 30 Kbps mark to work on most GPRS connections, but if you have a "fatter" stream more appropriate for 1XRTT connections, be sure to make a note of that in the URL title. The URL links should also go directly to the stream, not an intermediary HTML page. It might take a bit of sleuthing to discover the right URL, but think of the joy you're spreading!

One of my favorite uses for my SPV. Who says it's not a radio?

From http://devoted.to/spv. Mostly UK - but some good stations. (He's also got alot of music videos too! If you like madonna!)

But here's the streaming audio...Too many to submit one at a time in links. ;-)

Wow, awesome! But since you're the only one who knows what these all are (in terms of style and whatnot), perhaps you could submit a couple a day? Please? :D

Sure...ignore the links I sent thru the form...some of them dont work. How do you prefer me to send them? Via the form or a post here?

OFFTOPIC - but slightly on

are there any Windows Mobile media players that support Shoutcast streaming media?

I'm thinking in terms of Smartphone or Pocket PC. Thanks.

NM - I found what I was looking for - GSplayer http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA032810/gsp.htm does what i'm looking for on the pocket pc.

I submitted a link, but I dont know what kind of streams a smartphone supports? The one I submitted ends in .m3u ... best internet radio channel out there in my opinion, if you like DnB and jungle :) They have live radio shows/djs etc.

http://www.bassdrive.com/BassDrive3.m3u

This is the 24K stream. They have up to 128K stream for your desktop use.

Through the links submission form on the links page - that would be the best. Of course, knowing whether or not they actually work on the Smartphone would be a big plus first.

All of those listed above work.
There were a couple that I submitted via links that did not. They were all on my phone before and worked at some point.

I'll submit some soon. Is it possible to categorize the links? (News & Talk, Sports, 80s, 90s, Hip-Hop, Trance, etc)

FYI for anyone trying to get the direct stream link from a website. Here's what I do...may not be the best way but works for me.

I go into WMP on the PC.
Click on Radio Tuner.
Listen to some radio stations.
You can then go into your temporary internet files and sort by type.
Scroll down to the WMP files and the station links will be there.
Right click the link and click Add to Favorites.
You now have a direct URL to the stream without having to go to the html page.

Another reason to love unlimited GPRS! :D

I don't listen to streams on the PC much, but I would love to once I get my phone. Anyone know any good country streams? This is yet another cool use of a Smartphone, but it won't do me any good if I can only get pop or something from this era - :rainbowafro:

I know Jason doesn't like country music... so I won't even try and bother him with this question, it is directed at other members of the forums. :P

Could you let me know which ones don't work and what needs to be changed/deleted?

As for categorizing, you can just include the genre in the title of the link.

I have links to CSPAN1, 2, 3, 4 as well as Multiple MSNBC Feeds. Both video and audio as well. I'll check them on the phone but I would think that they're not appropriate for the phone...We'll see. Keep your fingers crossed.

(I also have video for Al Jazeers(sp?))...which may be useful in case there's another war!

Is there any way any of the developers on this site could wrap all these streaming links into:
- an HTML page that we could save locally on our SPs?
and/or
- an executable which would populate our Favorites folder with these URLs? Thinking along the line of MS's wireless links Power Toy for PPC.

:?:

Tou can just create an HTML page and save it in your HOME directory. Then put a link to that page on your homescreen.

There a lot of ways...but none that is really awesome..

- Put this link in ur favorites http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/links.php?cat_id=20

- Email/SMS the new URLs to ur phone..Then click on the link and Add to Favorite

- Orange users have DCU.exe on the CD that came with the phone..that allows u to copy PC Favorites to Phone...cool tool.

- Also u can create the Internet Shortcuts on ur PC and then copy the PC shortcuts to IPSM\Windows\Favorites on the phone. It works great.

Oh yeah... that might work out well. I think my cowboyness (is that a word?) came out a little to much there, as that was pretty obvious. :) I'll look there, thanks.
