<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.pocketpcmag.com/awards/smartphone.asp' target='_blank'>http://www.pocketpcmag.com/awards/smartphone.asp</a><br /><br /></div>"This year, the annual Best Software Awards ceremony will be held on October 22 Las Vegas, in conjunction with Pocket PC Summit (<a href="www.PocketPCSummit.com">www.PocketPCSummit.com</a>) and CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment (<a href="www.wirelessit.com/general">www.wirelessit.com/general</a>). The ceremony is the culmination of a five month process that began with over 1600 products and involves 50 Windows Mobile expert judges worldwide. It celebrates the efforts of developers, whose products increase the enjoyment and productivity of Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone users."<br /><br />"The nominations will be finalized on July 31, 2003. In August, over 50 experts will cast their ballots for best software. Award finalists winill be announced in September. Winners will be honored in a ceremony on October 22 during the Pocket PC Summit, <a href="http://www.pocketpcsummit.com">http://www.pocketpcsummit.com</a>, held in partnership with the CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment show."<br /><br />I've been to the last two Awards ceremonies, and it's nice to see that they're expanding the scope of the event to Smartphone software this year. Thanks to Hal, Rich, Diane, and the rest of the gang at Pocket PC Magazine for organizing the event. It's nice to see developers awarded for their efforts.<br /><br />What do you think of the nominations? Anything missing that you think should be there? The nominations go final on July 31st, so if you see something missing, you better act quickly...

Nice... glad to see they are expanding to include Smartphones. I've looked at these awards the past few years to see what some of the best new (or old) software is. Just in case I missed it being mentioned on PocketPCThoughts. :)

I'm just surprised to see ScummVM nominated on Smartphones ... I mean, the Smartphone version is merely a proof of concept thing, not as playable as the Pocket PC version ... which is not nominated

anyway I won't complain, it's good for ScummVM world domination plans

I'm really surprised not to see any Astraware titles in there...

I got Seven Seas and Atomica for my SPV and they both rock... (in fact I prefer 'em to the PPC versions on my IPAQ)

I'm really surprised not to see any Astraware titles in there...

In my experience, they don't respond well (ok... they don't respond AT ALL) to requests for review copies.

Since the people dong the nominting/judging aren't crazy enough to go out and buy everything that exists, it's pretty tough to get any recognition when you don't send review copies to leaders in the community.

If you know anyone at Astraware, feel free to give them a wake up call ;)
