The culprit? Popularity. iTunes is having difficulty authenticating the iOS 5 update with Apple's servers, probably because so many people are trying to upgrade at once. Once iTunes fails to upgrade, it refers the user to an iTunes help page with the URL referencing "error=3200," and is so widespread that "Error 3200" is currently trending worldwide on Twitter. As we noted earlier, simply downloading iOS 5 was taking a long time, but the problem has become a comedy of error (codes)."</em></p><p><img height="294" src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1318540235.usr105634.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" width="600" /></p><p>I didn't attempt it much last night, only about twice before I gave up, and found success this morning about 5am Pacific Time. Now, getting everything switched to iCloud was a different story. The picture above is all I kept getting once everything was installed on my iDevices and I was ready to make the move. Sounds like it may be tomorrow as a likely day for the final task. How was your experience this time? Better or worse than the last time you did it? Thankfully this wasn't released on iPhone 4S day or it would have been even uglier don't you think?&nbsp;</p>

Two different experiences -- updated my iPhone 4 yesterday evening. The download took two and a half hours. An hour and a half later, the sync had gotten to the 610 pictures I have on the phone as was just starting to transfer them to the phone. Four hours total into the process, I went to bed. When I got up, the update was finished minus a few tweaks on my part and the phone was functioning properly.

This afternoon, I repeated the process with my iPad. The download took nine minutes and the entire process was finished in just under two hours. This time, 3970 pictures were involved. Now both devices are working properly. I haven't set up iCloud on either yet.

Download was slow but no problems with the actual update. Enjoying iOS 5 more than I thought I would. iCloud up and running on all devices. The only irritants is not being able to delete photos from Photostream and responeses to iMessages started on an iPad or iPod Touch can only be seen on an iPad or Touch. The moral of the story is don't send an iMessage to an email addy if you want an immediate response (unless you know the recipient is actually using one of he devices at the time)
