It also sounds like kind of a pain to get to a web browser, going through shutdown and restart. Just set up a guest account with no permissions if you want to let others use your computer. Or am I missing some reason this is a good idea? What are your thoughts?</p>

As a way to configure a Mac to serve as a browser-only kiosk?

But yeah, for personal use, I don't see the point...
