And this seems to go along with what appears to be a move towards removing the need for physical media such as DVDs. Even if this were put on a thumb drive it would be better than having it on DVD in my opinion. And this goes along with Apple making the app store a big part of OS X Lion and the removal of boxed software from the retail stores. I think this does put those who depend on physical media ie those with slower Internet speeds at a disadvantage, or at least it makes it more inconvenient for them, but I'm all for less clutter and going the way of the cloud. What are your thoughts about this move, good? Bad? &nbsp;</p>

If Usage Based Billing comes to Canada, this could be a real problem for Canadian users.

Good and Bad. Good for those with reliable higher-speed connections, but bad if the downloadable size is anything like Snow Leopard (it was distributed on a DL DVD, so 4.7GB +++) and one has any type of metered service. I have DSL and cable modem here, and one is slower and unmetered (Qwest DSL) and one is much faster (Comcast cable), but capped at 50GB per month, with no rollover. And these downloads invariably crap-out once or twice ... I do hope that there is a choice. For instance, for the MacBook Air, one of the little micro USB flash thingies (I'm not sure if these are considered to be a drive, or what). that were distributed for restores.

How will I boot my Mac from the App Store if I need to?

Making software licensing, downloads, and installs dead-simple is great, but there's something to be said for having a boot disk (or USB thumb drive).

Maybe it will let you make a boot disk once you download it?
