Not even a day after I buy a Xoom. Typical. The current buzz is that Google is working directly with LG to produce the next Google branded device, in this case a tablet. The Nexus Tablet if you will. It should be the biggest and the baddest Honeycomb tablet around with the latest software from Google and the sweetest hardware from LG. Not only that, it is due by this summer or early fall! I for one am excited. I hope there is a wifi only version that I'll be able to pick up somewhere for not to horrible a price. Any of you tablet hold outs (that didn't just buy a Xoom *grumbles*) think you might pick up the official Nexus Tablet if/when it is launched?</p>

Although, I am planning on getting an iPad later this year a pure Android tablet sounds rather intriguing to play with if it's at a reasonable price but the iPad is still better for my needs at the moment.

It was unlikely that I was going to buy the Xoom for this very reason. That and I feel like Motorola had a pretty shabby product release this time around. Mail-in upgrades? Really?

I've been waiting for more details on the "Nexus" tablet since HoneyComb was announced. If I buy an android tablet it will be this one. I love the latest and greatest, but the my Nexus One made me realize that keeping on the cutting edge of hardware iterations was just to expensive for me. The software and platforms are my answer. That's why my next phone, if an android phone, will be a Nexus phone. The same is for tablets.

If I buy an android tablet, and its likely I will, it will be a Nexus tablet. Why spend $600 on a tablet to run the risk of having it left behind in a year just to get some OEM "value adds".

This is one major reason why I'm cooling off on Windows Phone. I need to know that I can continue to evolve with a platform even if my hardware stays the same.

I hope the Nexus tablet is in the 8 to 9inch size. That would be perfect for me. I may even pick up a 3G/4G version. Hopefully it will be with T-Mobile and I can get grandfathered into a cheap data plan.

That is one reason why I have enjoyed the iPhone so much and I'm waiting to see an official Google Android Tablet. As you said the OEM "value adds" just aren't worth it in the long run. Give me a pure and untouched user experience and let me decide if I want to change it.

That's kinda why i bought the wifi only xoom. At the moment it is the official google tablet. It's the one they are handnding out to developers and it is the pure honeycomb experience.

The good news for me is that when the nexus tablet comes out my wife fully plans on stealing my xoom. :-)
She is currently limping along with one of those coby kyros tablets from kmart. :-)
