Currently, WP7 phones are running a version of IE Mobile, known as IE Mobile 7, which that is a variant of IE 7 with some IE 8 functionality added. But Windows Phone 7s running Mango will be running a mobile version of IE 9, Microsoft's latest, HTML5-compliant IE browser that the company is expected to release to the Web this spring."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com//wpt/auto/1297610821.usr14226.png" /></p><p>Before anyone gets excited, Mango is due later this year; the update coming soon (with copy &amp; paste) is codenamed NoDo, and has been delayed to March. Microsoft is expected to release more details about the Mango update at Mobile World Congress starting tomorrow, so we'll probably learn soon enough what else to expect. I'd be interested in particularly at the pace of updates - Will Microsoft display the kind of commitment that Google and Apple have given their respective platforms by frequent support updates?&nbsp; Will there be <em>any</em> interim updates at all? Stay tuned.</p>

Do updates come straight from MS or does each OEM have to customize it? Picking up a Focus this week and don't want to have to wait for Samsung to get it's crap together to release an update if MS will be releasing the Copy & Paste update soon....

If someone could explain me, please. Will this Mango be an update compatable with current hardware devices, or will I have to get a new, more powerful one, the way Google does it?

Hmmm this is why I haven't been around this site much. The community isn't as vibrant as it once was, people use to fight to answer questions first...now all is quiet....

They come straight from Microsoft. No more of the old way of doing things, which was a disaster as you well know...

It will be compatible with current hardware; that was one of the key reasons Microsoft standardized upon the Chassis 1 spec: it will be the basis for everything they do moving forward. Don't quote me on this, but I suspect Windows Phone 8 will be compatible with the current crop of devices. I think Microsoft is going to make people happy with the update process...once it actually starts happening that is. :)

You get out of community what you put into it. :)

Cute. Still didn't answer my question. Didn't realize you are penalized for ignorance and seeking answers. Off to more helpful and friendly places.

What? I answered it above, my first post in the thread. I'm not penalizing anyone, I'm just pointing out the community is a two-way street.

No worries, that's one of the quirks about vBulletin - unfortunately it's not something we can change.

Did you read this article about how Windows Phone Update will work (http://www.windowsphonethoughts.com/news/show/100826/windows-update-for-windows-phone-this-is-what-you-ve-been-waiting-for.html)? I think you'd find it very interesting.

Unfortunately they are not........ This was the original, announced plan but then things changed.
As it happened with WM 6.XX ..........
