Is this another selling point for them? It doesn't appear that is the motivation behind it since they are making it an across the board change for all smartphones, not just the iPhone. What are your thoughts?</p>

Great, hope others follow suit. Slept better at night when I had an AT&T 'unlimited' plan. Never got close to 2G, so I had no real problem going from a $30 mo bill to $25 (on several phones), but now I don't sleep as well.

Funny that AT&T said 98% of users never exceeded the 2G mark, and we can do that for $25. Wonder why they couldn't do unlimited for $25, when 98% are still doing the same as they did. Penalize the 2% that abuse the 'benevolence'.

I do get that tethering is an upcharge on an unlimited plan, as you are apt to use significantly more data if you are routing to a laptop, or three.

I don't get AT&T upcharging for tethering on a limited plan. If I buy a bucket of chicken, should be my business who I share with. I just run out faster if I'm not carefull. At the all you can eat buffet, I can accept an upcharge for my kids eating off my plate.
