I gave in to the temptation and placed my order this morning at around 8:08 AM EST. Anyone else cave in and pony up some cash for this beauty? Hopefully the overnight shipping will kick in and I can tell you all about my first impressions sometime this weekend. As for now, I'm going to wait in anticipation, and be thankful that my gadget fund can support purchases like this!

This new handset looks fantastic!
Can it be purchased off contract? And if so, what's the damage?

As soon as an 850 MHz version surfaces, I'll be all over it. :D

I'm very tempted, but also by the promise of the Dell Streak with Android 2.2 in January ... I'm starting to develop a 'one device to rule them all' philosophy. In 2011 maybe good bye iPhone and iPad and hello to XXXYYYZZZ ??? Nexus S ? maybe a serious candidate as well.

No, I went for the Galaxy S, which arrived yesterday. Now, if can get it back from my sons then I might have a fund weekend setting it up.

I'd be very interested to see how fast they do ship it to you. Carphone Warehouse are supposed to have it in the UK, and it's being heavily advertised here, but I couldn't get them to commit to a delivery date and none of their shops local to me even have a display model. I hope your experience is better.

For some reason I still have this quirk where I feel like I need a card slot. The Nexus S does sound like a great device though!

Probably my biggest question would be, does it have any location/gps issues as most Galaxy S devices have?

Have fun Jon!

If you're getting into the ROM game, I'd submit that an SD card is required. I lost tons of data when my phone freaked on me last month (and I was only rooted - not custom ROM) & I couldn't get the phone started w/o wiping everything but the SD card.

No, I think I'll avoid the Nexus S and wait for proper 2.3 ROMs to hit the Vibrant. I won't be struck twice by Samsung's garbage Android phones (I loved their dumbphones).

Yes, it can, and the painful price is $529 (Same as the Nexus One was last year).

Hey everyone - my Quick Look on this will be up tomorrow morning!
