You'll need to take notes, but you've got a busy day, and you'll be running around a lot. You could take your laptop, though its weight may drag you down, or you could save your back some strain and bring your iPad instead. (The heaviest iPad weighs only 1.6 pounds compared to lightest laptop ever, the 2.3-pound MacBook Air.)"</em></p><p><span><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/lpt/auto/1285246658.usr105634.jpg" /></span></p><p><span>I really have come to enjoy taking notes on my iPad in meetings or even during work projects. There are several note taking apps out there, as I'm sure you are all aware, so you really have to find the ones that fit into what you are trying to accomplish. For me, I use several, some of which are mentioned in this article, such as SimpleNote [<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/simplenote/id289429962?mt=8" target="_blank">itunes link</a>]. I use SimpleNote for notes that I want to share among devices such as my iPad and iPhone. Mainly they are notes that I am adding to frequently, some work related and some for personal use. If I want a combo program that lets me combine typing with writing (in certain meetings you just have to doodle don't you?), then I use Notes Plus [<a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=VoxLcfp5Si4&amp;subid=&amp;offerid=177776.1&amp;type=10&amp;tmpid=3909&amp;RD_PARM1=http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/notes-plus-handwriting-note/id374211477?mt=8" target="_blank">affiliate link</a>]. Combine that with the <a href="http://forums.thoughtsmedia.com/f384/hard-candy-cases-gets-write-candy-ipad-stylus-pen-101086.html" target="_blank">Hard Candy stylus</a> and you have a winner. You could also <a href="http://www.therussiansusedapencil.com/post/1521469842/the-right-feel-for-an-ipad-stylus" target="_blank">make your own stylus</a>, but it doesn't look as good as the Hard Candy stylus. </span></p><p><span>So what note taking apps do you use?&nbsp;</span></p>

Gave up on trying to take notes on my iPad about two days after I got it. Typing on a touch screen is one of the most miserable things anyone can do on an electronic gadget.

SimpleNote as well. Also trying TrunkNotes, a wiki-like product, with a wiki markup (like) language. Funny, but I don't mind "typing" on the iPad. I tried the keyboard/dock combo, but the iPad was so unstable sitting in it (on it) that I was afraid the whole mess would collapse. Now I'm waiting for a case with a keyboard built-in.

I use Evernote for things I want to save and share with other devices. For meetings, I use soundnote, which let's me record and take notes. The notes sync with the recordings so you can tap on a note and go back to what you were hearing when you wrote it. Both work very nicely for me.

BTW, the Sony Vaio X with the same screen size as the MacBook Air, and comparable specs, weighs 1.6 lbs. It looks like it holds the 'lightest notebook ever' title.
