I first noticed my phone not getting new emails Tuesday night. I really didn't think too much of it at the time, figured I had connection issues or something. Come Wednesday I still wasn't getting any new email unless I opened Gmail and hit the refresh button so a Google searching I went. I stumbled across this thread in the Google support forums, it appeared that I was not alone in my Gmail syncing grief. Since then several other support threads have popped up with the same issue.

The problem is totally independent of carrier, device, or OS version. It appears to be something server side at Google. Many people are reporting that one of their Gmail accounts is syncing while the other is not, which agian, points to something server side that may not be effecting all of Google's mail servers.

Just so you know, Google is aware of the problem and is working on a fix. So don't pull all of your hair out trying to get it working. You are not alone in your frustration. Who else out there is experiencing this issue?

Strange...it's been fine for me. I just sent a test message to my gmail account and it worked.

I'm near Harrisburg, PA.

Well my wife and I are new to Android as of last Friday. The timeline you mentioned is about correct. I have a google apps for my personal domain of which my wife and I have accounts. We setup our phones last friday and are loving the Android experience with our Droid Inc.

I am still getting my messages as always on my apps email account. However, she started noticing yesterday that she was not getting her emails unless she went in to the gmail app and then did a refresh. She was thinking that she messed up a setting somewhere when she was playing around with the phone getting used to everything.

I was planning to compare our phones tonight to see if a setting was different....

But it sounds like I should just wait and see what happens.

Thanks J...

Yeah, it seems very sporadic. My main account will not push. My wife isn't having any trouble with either her main account or her hosted gmail work account.

You don't realize how much you depend on push email until you don't have it. :D

I just added my test gmail account to my phone and it pushes just fine. I know that it is on a different server than my main gmail account. When one was down the other account still worked. So it is definitely dependent on what server your mail account is hosted on.

Seems to be working again for me and many others. No explanation as to what the problem was. Yet.

Google said they found an issue with a few of their servers and issued a fix. Most people (including me) are reporting that it is now working for them however there are still a few people in the thread saying they now have the problem. I wonder if the "issue" has spread to more servers?
