Walt Mossberg on the other hand, while he notes that unlike the past MacBook Air you can run seven or eight programs at once with the new ones, still thinks they are only replacements for light-duty users. What to buy, what to buy.&nbsp;</p>

I was in a Best Buy yesterday, so I got to play with one. It is fast. It took about ten seconds to do a full restart from the time I hit the restart button. Terminal loaded up instantly. Safari in under a second. It's definitely fast. Makes me want an SSD for my iMac, but until they come out with 1 terabyte SSDs, I'm out of luck.

I hope the new model took care of the overheating problems of the prior model, even though they use the same CPU. My coworker has one and it got bad enough it was more or less useless... running more than a handful of apps (and trying to run Parallels or VMware at all) made the machine get so hot it would go into "limp" mode and slow down to a crawl to prevent itself from melting. He finally ditched it and got the 13" MBP instead and has been very grateful he did.

The new 'Airs vent out the back now. My unibody MBP gets warmer than my 'Air does. Just read some reports about a small # of users are experiencing some video issues and/or kernel panics coming out of sleep. I rarely use the sleep function so I haven't experienced either yet.
