The real answer can come from only Motorola or Nextel. But my guess is that Motorola was slow in the overall development process. The unit should have been out at least 5-6 months earlier.
The other thing (I believe) is that this Smartphone is aimed at a niche market. There are no real competitors. ;-)

I am sure a lot of prospective buyers will agree with you. And I am sure it is stopping a lot of new customers from switching over to Nextel too.
I must add, that during my quick trip to the Nextel store, I realized that not a lot of Nextel phones have Bluetooth. :-(
