To be a contrarian, I much prefer matte. I work in a room that is either top-lit fluorescent or side-lit daylight. Glare is terrible. Matte makes it tolerable. Glossy is basically unusable. I can see how someone with a studio would prefer the slight increase in clarity and pop that comes with the removal of the anti-glare finish, but for Apple not to offer it as a FREE option for all of their displays is truly a horrible lapse in judgment. If there are passionate likes and dislikes on both sides and it is such an easy (and basically free) option, offer it. It's one thing to be "one-size fits all" if you're a PC maker in a generic market, but Apple is the sole (legal) means of getting an OSX computer and even with their current move to make this better you either spend at least $1750 on an anti-glare "upgraded" 15-inch MBP or you get glossy. Dumb, IMO.
