Don't take the "heavy" comments personally... I just happen to like very thin and lightweight devices and as great as the TP2 is, it doesn't fit my definition of "very thin and lightweight", being 2.5 oz. (61%) heavier and .08 in. (13%) thicker than the TD2 (an equally great device). But that's my preference. If I wasn't crystal clear about it in the review, let me reiterate... for you or anyone else who prefers the keyboard and doesn't mind the extra weight, more power to you. I think it's the perfect choice for you!

The TP2 is capable of being upgraded to WM 6.5 and the last word that I've seen is that they've committed to a free upgrade.

Pocket PC Thoughts: HTC Will Be Offering a Windows Mobile 6.5 Upgrade, For Free, On the Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2

Regardless, nothing's ever set in stone. You can't really and truly count on the upgrade until they're actually shipping it. A few years ago, Fujitsu-Siemens made a similar "promise", leading potential buyers of the Loox 720 (and a couple of other models) to believe that they'd provide an upgrade from the original WM2003 SE to WM 5, only to back down as WM 5 came closer to release. Admittedly, with the hardware requirements changes between the 2 releases (WM 5 was the first version to be designed around persistent memory), it doesn't seem like FSC really thought things through before making the announcement, since the 720 wasn't a good hardware design for WM 5. The TP2 and TD2, on the other hand, fit the WM 6.5 hardware requirements, so the reason that FSC used to back out doesn't apply here.

So let's hope that HTC stand by their promises better than FSC.
