Hmmm... I don't see that problem on my son's Touch Diamond. It could be that the screen wasn't aligned to your touch (or at all...) It could also be some problem with the screen itself, or with a screen shield that was installed?
However, I didn't have ANY problems at all with the TD2's responsiveness. Mind you, I didn't really try it much with the stylus, since the interface is now so finger friendly.
