At this point, the only apps worth over $9.99 to me have been eWallet and Pocket Informant (I actually didn't pay for PI since I'm on the beta team, but would've paid for it...
).
PI 1.0 was a little slow in the performance department, but 1.01 should be out soon, and it really improved performance. Also, there will be a "lite" version of PI out sometime, in case the $12.99 is difficult to swallow without trying it first.
