I've had the iPAQ 910c since January 5, and I have mixed feelings for it. My previous device was a Samsung Epix, which I loved except for the tiny keys. The iPAQ keyboard is way better, that's for sure. Battery life should've been better but that said, I always have been used to charge my smartphones every night when I go to sleep, so I can make full use of the iPAQ (a lot of voice calls and email cheking, moderate media use and a bit of web surfing, and I still have about 30% left when I plug it in to recharge.
What I don't like about the iPAQ 910c:
1.
Phone is Unstable, if using a Bluetooth headset! It is usable, but buggy. I've tried three different BT headsets with the 910c, and I frequently have issues like trying to answer an incoming call via the button on the headset and the call not being answered. I also have frequent loss of device audio after ending a call where a BT headset was used. The loss of audio can be worked around by dialing a couple of digits and pressing the End Call button, but it is annoying nonetheless.
2.
AT&T Restricted: For a device that is supposed to be carrier-independent, the iPAQ 910c honors many of AT&T's carrier restrictions, such as blocking manual network selection and blocking you from seeing the real name of the carrier you are roaming onto. While these restrictions come from AT&T's SIM card, truly carrier-unbranded phones ignore the SIM flags that set these restrictions but not the iPAQ 910c. These restrictions can't be removed because of the next item I'll explain. It almost seems like the 910c was supposed to be sold by AT&T, but AT&T backed down and HP then unlocked the devices so they could sell them network-unlocked.
3.
THE REGISTRY IS LOCKED! Basic registry tweaks and app installs do work, but you cannot fully app-unlock this device, let alone modify the policies, such as to remove the restrictions explained in the previous point.
So I'm still left without an ideal QWERTY-bar device. The Treo Pro is not an option because if I couldn't stand the tiny-and-squeezed keys on the Epix, there is no chance for the Treo Pro's keyboard.
