While the number may not surprise you, it's not based on any sort of factual information; and certainly not information out of T-Mobile or HTC.
The 1.5 million number is an estimate posted by someone at the Motley Fool website, and has been quoted as fact all over the net. The actual number is most likely closer between 200,000 and 300,000.
Whatever it is, we'll have a better idea when T-Mobile actually issues a press release with the info, anything else is purely speculation.
