Actually, I don't mind this design at all. The only disadvantage I see is that with the buttons are on the right-side of the device, that means that your right fingers are going to have to stretch a bit more to type on the QWERTY when the buttons are in the way. When I first saw this device, somehow it instantly reminded me of the Hiptop/Sidekick, and that's the design I think HTC is probably pushing. They probably want to keep the black/sleek devices more for WM/business and leave a more hiptop-like design with bright colours for Android.

Different markets - makes sense. The probably don't want their Android and WM devices eating away at each other.
