Frankly, I don't understand Tom Tom's reluctance to sell its product. Before purchasing my Diamond in June I was using the Touch Cruise, another HTC device that is not officially on sale in the US. It came with Tom Tom installed (6, not 7) but it also included the one free map offer. I requested my part of the Puget Sound area in Washington State and the download worked fine and the program was pretty cool on the Cruise. At that time, the Tom Tom website wouldn't let me buy other US maps for the Cruise even though it gave me a US map for free. Tom Tom, like HTC, knows that these products are being sold outside of the target market. It can't cost that much to get whatever licenses might be required in order to get a jump on the competition in a future market.
