I've played around with the Pearl and I loved how tiny it sleek it felt but I could never justify using their service knowing that at least twice in the past year they have knocked out service to all of their customers in the US. It is just uncalled for. At least with my Smartphone, if Microsoft explodes I still get my mail pushed to me
I have also always found BlackBerry's data plans to be ridiculous when compared to any other phone on the market. If you are not part of a big corporation, it is almost insane to pay more than 200% the price of a Smartphone data plan. This I actually blame on the carriers, do we really need 8 different data SKU's for the same Internet?
