I think that it's just fine. Worked for RIM, can work for WM.
In large corporations, the company specifies what devices can be hooked up. Some even buy thousands of units for their employees to use.
For example, currently we use thousands of Windows CE devices. But they're old and not secure. So we've gone to Blackberries, partly because WM didn't have the remote management option at the time.
Something like this lets us try to get WM back in as a choice.
