Default e405 wireless SDIO problems

This is kind of embarrasing considering I nearly have a networking degree, but here it goes.

I came across a Toshiba Pocket PC e405, and wanted to use it wirelessly. I purchased a Spectec WLAN 802.11B SDIO card (SDW-820), hoping to get it working with My DLink 802.11G router.

Anyway, the card came with a small CD with drivers and utility software. The utility software is rather buggy, and doesn't really work. I did get the drivers installed though, and the device recognizes the card. However, I cannot figure out how to connect to my network. When I first put in the SDIO card after installing the driver, a bubble window popped up showing me my Router's SSID, and asking for my WEP encription. I put in the 10 digit code, and the window went away with no confirmation or rejection. There is still an X under the connection icon next to the sound icon. I went to

Start > Settings > Connections tab > Connections > Advanced Tab > Network Card

And I can see Spectec WLAN-11b Adapter. When I select it, it doesn't show me any SSIDs or anything. Am I doing something wrong or is the card most likely incompatable? Could I get step-by-step instruction on accessing SSID broadcasts? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
