Well here's the deal. I super want to win this. Why? OMG, take a seat fellas.
My earliest memory goes back to the year that Star Wars was released. This is one my favorite memories and I doubt a year goes by where I'm not reminded of it in some way.
I don't recall the month specifically but I do recall it was hot. My dad, brother, sister, mom and I packed into our car with NO A/C and we headed out. Now at the time we lived in the sticks man. It was a long hot drive that passed like a million years. By the time we got there I felt like we had driven in from "a long time ago in a galaxy far away".
My parents didn't have a ton of money but at this time they spared no expense. Popcorn, drinks, candy man we were in movie heaven. For me the movie Star Wars was on the screen for all of 2 minutes. That movie went so fast I was amazed it was over. I was glued to my seat the entire time. Totally loved it.
This movie started a family passion where with each release we made the same journey in to town riding in the same car and coming from "a long time ago in a galaxy far away". But we never saw each movie once I think we saw each of them at least twice and when my brother could drive he, my sister and I piled up the viewings.
Why does this mean so much to me? Well a few reasons. I kind of feel like the place I grew up was the place Luke grew up. The middle of nowhere with nothing to do but check the sprinklers so the lawn didn't die.
Then! Then! My daughter was born. 8O Which took my life and pretty much ripped it apart. For the next 3 years it was a constant battle to keep her alive. We had EMT's at our house more often than we had friends or family and we couldn't have friends or family over because my daughter had no immune system.
Her older brother Grant paid the price for her illness in spades. He had cabin fever for about 2.5 years. During this time I picked up a copy of the lego star wars video game that was just a sample/demo. He loved to watch me play that game. It was definitely a special memory even though it was a demo. At the time we hardly had money to eat, in fact we skipped a few meals and a few house payments because feeding my daughter was a cool $3,000 a month. So Grant didn't get to do a whole lot of things.
Recently he has started asking me if we could play this game together again. I won't bother describing the things that happened between when last played that game and now. I'm trying to forget most of it. So it would be very, very cool to win this game and surprise him with it. He's got Star Wars posters in his room right now (some guys I know around the world from the internet all chipped in and sent us a bunch of lego's and Grant's request was Star Wars sets) that are set up like a prayer altar to the Lego Star Wars Gods. So it's a big deal for him. He likes me to draw some of the Star Wars characters like Fet, Vader, Baka (these are kid short names) and the like.
Anyway, that's me spilling my guts with to many memories some good and some bad. May the Schwarz be with all of you even if your Schwarz is bigger than mine. Watch out though, I'll "Jam your radar."

DISCLAIMER: I talk about some personal and hard times in this post. Please don't use those as a means of saying "He deserves this or that." I don't. Judge it like the other posts and pick the best winner. For me my memories include some bumps and I can't help that but don't give me an unfair bias over others because of it.
