Agreed 100%. There's no "war on Christmas", it's just a concept invented to increase pundits' ratings. I tell people "Merry Christmas" all the time, and take no offense if they tell me the same. (In fact, I don't celebrate neither Christmas nor Hanukkah.)
"Happy Holidays" is just an inclusive phrase. I think it's more for the kids than anything else, so they don't feel left out.
My bigger problem with "the holiday season" is the crass commercialism. <shrug>
