Nice, limited review of this device.
Your GPS problem may be due to the Quick GPS Connection application. Be sure you download the latest sat. positions using this application. Something about the GPS hardware uses these files to know where the current position of the sat. are. Unlike other GPS hardware that scans for signals, this assumes the position based on these file downloads.
It will auto download for you and I have not found this to be a downside to the device at all.
NOTE: This information is based on my hw6500 not sure if this new model does this as well.
