I'd love to see that too, but vendors may be considering price and practicality, and consumers would probably be considering battery life. Is VGA on a <3" screen necessary for general consumer use? I know geeks would love it. But for the Average Joe, it may not appeal if battery life has to be sacrificed for it.

Actually, IMHO the average Joe needs more than that. We geeks can get along with 100-150 DPI, but the average user will need 300DPI or more (300 DPI being inkjet quality, 600-2400 DPI being laser quality)
I have an e-book reader on my Samsung i700, but I hardly use it. It's too hard to read. The form factor (screen size and shape) is about right, it's just the text quality is too rotten.
