i am against the idea behind cross platform. you cant take advantage of the capabilities of any platform if you build an application like this.
if you are writing a very simple application, this wouldnt be a big thing, but i cant rely on this for a database application or something that will use a valuable amount of system resource.
i hope the compiler has a very good optimization engine.
