Alright, the day many of you have been waiting for is here: you can now
place pre-orders for the Zune from Amazon.com [affiliate]. The price is $249.99 USD (no surprises there), and Amazon has pre-orders for the
black Zune, the
white Zune, and the
brown Zune. There are also a lot of
Zune accessories for sale, so be sure to check them all out. It's sadly amusing that neither Darius or myself can even order a Zune from Amazon, because they don't ship electronics outside the country. Woe is me! I'll source a Zune, don't you worry.

Zune Insider posted a list of other retailers where you'll be able to purchase the Zune from: Target, Best Buy, Costco, Fry's, Amazon, Meijer, Staples, Transworld, Toys R Us, Circuit City, Office Max, Office Depot, Wal-Mart, Kmart, GameStop, Sears, Nebraska Furniture Mart, J&R Computer World, Virgin Megastore (select locations), Brookstone, CarToys. Lots of choice, and hopefully lots of availability at launch time. No one wants a repeat of the Xbox 360.
