It's not you. It's the card. There's absolutely nothing you can do about it. I have a similar problem - its an unfortunate fact of life... standard sandisk cards are slow. You'll need to get an ultra II card or a panasonic (or other card) with 10MB/s write speed to get really fast write speeds.
