Yah... you have to remember to remove the batteries for at least 5 to 10 minutes to allow the capacitors in the unit to die off, before attempting to restart it.

Does the 5455 have a backup battery? (I think so..) If you haven't replaced that lately, you might want to try getting a new one of those as well. In my older HP units, the backup battery would get drained as well if the main battery was not able to supply any juice. And if the backup battery got hosed, it didn't matter how much juice the main battery had, the unit would not fire up at all!
