Actually, that is only the dial string if you are connecting via GPRS. (Which is the only option that AT&T allows.) If samkatta is attempting to connect to an external ISP via GSM (that is, circuit switched data) then you would call the "normal" number for the ISP. But as I noted, AT&T blocks you from doing this.

As for samkatta's specific problem: it's a bit strange since it's working via IrDA. Are you using the same connection for both Bluetooth and IrDA, or did you duplicate it? You might need a special modem init string to force a GSM data connection.
