I have switched my connection to 802.11b ad hoc on both devices, put them on the same channel, changed my connection to a work connection. I cannot sync.
I don't think you need and ad hoc connection... if your PocketPC see the net thru you dsl router it shoud see your PC too.
You just need your pocketPC to be able to resolve your PC name...
For that you need PocketHost here http://www.zimac.de/software.htm
Just add a key with the name of your PC with it IP address.

You may also want to try vxUtil http://www.cam.com/vxutil.html with you can ping your PC and do some troubleshooting!
